Art Brut frontman and contender for ‘funniest man in indie’ award Eddie Argos is set to unveil a number of side projects including some journalism as well as two new bands.
Art Brut have a cult following in the UK, as well as being somewhat reluctant stars in Germany. However, Eddie Argos is set to take off from the band tp pursue a number of new projects. The long term comic book fan has begun a series of articles on the caped crusaders of Marvel and DC on an online site. The musings include a treatise on Batman, and why he really doesn’t like Mark Millar’s “Wanted”.
Also in the pipeline are not one, but TWO new bands. The first to make a public appearance will be “Everybody Was In The French Revolution… Now”. Retaining the comedic vein that made Art Brut so enjoyable, a new blog post by Argos describes the band as follows:
“Everybody Was in the French Resistance…Now are correcting the mistakes of pop songs past. So far they have defended the belittled blue collar worker from Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’, told Gerry and the Pacemakers that in fact it is okay to walk alone, dumped the manipulative Martha Reeves on behalf of poor Jimmy Mack and taken the misguided instructions of a 17th century ballad to its logical conclusion. THEY ARE FIXING THE CHARTS.”
That’s nice. A debut album is apparently in the works for next year. The second band is named Glam Chops, and much less is known about this project. Sample song titles have emerged however, including “Don’t be Glum, Be Glam”.
As yet, none of the side projects have a release date.
