Armand Hammer, RP Boo Tackle Sun Ra’s ‘Blood Running High’

A stunning rendering...

Avant rap duo Amand Hammer align with footwork guru RP Boo to reinterpret Sun Ra’s ‘Blood Running High’.

The move is part of an ongoing series of albums produced by Red Hot, designed to present the music and vision of Sun Ra in a fresh light. Volume Four is out on June 21st – titled ‘Outer Spaceways Incorporated: Kronos Quartet & Friends Meet Sun Ra’ it boasts a slew of fantastic artists.

This new track is well worth highlighting. Armand Hammer are a terrific force, breaking down aesthetic boundaries in rap’s left-field. Billy Woods and Elucid have a singular catalogue, with last year’s ‘We Buy Diabetic Test Strips’ earning phenomenal acclaim.

‘Blood Running High’ finds Armand Hammer working with seminal footwork producer RP Boo, re-casting a Sun Ra composition in a new light.

Embracing some of the jazz composer’s singularity, it chops apart those Arkestra horns, retaining the cosmic funk of the original before leaning in to the unique characteristics of these artists.

An afro-futurist document that spans generations, ‘Blood Running High’ is a fantastic piece of work.

RP Boo recounts…

“First Thing Is When I’m Contacted In Thought Of Being Able To Partake In A Music Project Or Remake, I Am Honored To Be In Assisting And With This Project As I Was Building And Formatting, Every Second I Smiled As The Track Was Unfolding And Revealing Itself From The Unknown, I Just Myself Became The Listener Finding The Track Being Played Back For Hours And Intaking The Way It Had Me Moving With Pure Joy.”

Additionally, Armand Hammer shares: “A Boo x Armand Hammer song feels like fantasy football for music fanatics. As a fan of RP Boo, this totally unexpected collaboration was a no brainer to agree to. We’re thankful to the Red Hot Org for making this a reality.”

Tune in now.
