Arlo Parks toasted the release of new album ‘My Soft Machine’ with a special Spotify fan event.

The London artist’s debut album swept all before it, claiming the Mercury Music Prize on an emotional evening. Since then, she’s toured the world and found love, and these factors fuel her nuanced, subtle follow-up statement.

Out now, ‘My Soft Machine’ introduces new elements, while also holding true to the sound of her debut. Our review calls it “a triumph, matching the heights of her debut while embracing some unexpected aspects.”

A few days ago, Arlo Parks teamed up with Spotify for a very special fan event at The Church studios in North London, one of the spaces she used to construct her new album. The beautiful studio area was decorated in posters representing some of her influences, while Arlo also arranged bookshelves containing texts she adores.

Fans were invited to explore the space, looking at the same equipment and mixing desks she utilised to bring her new album to life. After a short Q&A Arlo Parks then performed a number of songs from the record, while also adding in a neat take on Jai Paul’s ‘Jasmine’ – which features on the extended edition of the record.

She said onstage:

“I wanted to produce a bold and courageous body of work, which led me on my journey of self-discovery and healing in the world. This studio has been my comfort place for the past 18 months so ‘A Soft Machine’ is a testament to that. I’m so grateful to my dear friends at Spotify for their help in bringing everything together so you guys can delve into the inspiration and story behind the 12-track project.”

‘My Soft Machine’ is out now.
