Recording the theme for a James Bond film is an honour only bestowed on a select batch of artists.
With work on the next instalment under way, fans have begun speculating on who will take charge of the theme song.
Ellie Goulding was thought to be in the lead, with the singer posting a message on Instagram featuring the words 'Live And Let Die'. The British singer was pictured leaving Abbey Road – where the theme is usually recorded – and included the caption "that's a wrap".
In a somewhat bizarre twist, one punter placed a £15,000 wager on Radiohead taking charge of the theme – prompting bookmakers to suspend bets.
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: “The first gamble of the day was Ellie Goulding and punters were backing her as if she already had the gig, but just as we were thinking of pulling the plug we had a load of bets for Radiohead, including one customer who asked to place a £15,000 bet on the band at 10/1. There seem to be all kinds of rumours and the plot has had more twists and turns than a classic Bond tale, but surely nobody risks £15,000 on a hunch.”
Time will tell…
