A full breakdown of stats has revealed the most popular song on Arctic Monkeys new album ‘The Car’.
Out now, the album matches 70s easy listening vibes to Alex Turner’s incisive lyricism, resulting in a potent – yet also divisive – experience.

Smashing into the charts, research from CasinoGuardian shows that ‘The Car’ has been streamed a collective 102,571,657 times. With each stream valued at £0.003, it means that the band have chalked up over £300,000 in just two weeks.
The most popular song on ‘The Car’ is ‘There’d Better Be A Mirrorball’ with 33,136,945 streams so far; poor old ‘Mr Schwartz’ is the least-played, with 4,423,178 streams.

If the band have wangled a £0.004 payment from the streaming giant, then Arctic Monkeys will have earned a little extra – slightly more than £500,000, to be precise.
The new material doesn’t quite match the eye-watering streaming levels of their older releases – Arctic Monkeys most-listened to song ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ has been streamed over 1.4 billion times and has earned the band £7.5 million on Spotify. In second place, ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?’ has been streamed 949 million times – equivalent to £4.5 million in earnings.
Of course, the total value of ‘The Car’ needs to include Apple Music, Deezer, and Bandcamp; vinyl sales, meanwhile, were exceptionally strong.
Busy as ever, Arctic Monkeys are currently prepping for a global tour, including a host of UK arena and stadium dates – they headlined Reading and Leeds festival this summer. Alongside that, the band shot a special edition of Later… with Jools Holland featuring material from their recent studio album, which was broadcast over the weekend.
