Arctic Monkeys have been knocked from pole position on the albums chart by reformed boy band Take That.
It couldn’t last forever. Returning with their fourth album, Arctic Monkeys stormed to the top of the albums chart. ‘Suck It And See’ charmed fans, with the material coming to life at their epic Don Valley Bowl shows.
However a battle with reformed boy band Take That has seen Arctic Monkeys come off second best. With their momentum slipping, the Sheffield group have slid down to number four relinquishing their hold on the top spot.
Embarking on their latest sell out tour, the reformed pop machine have surged to number one. Recent album ‘Progress’ has leaped ten places to number one, with Take That playing some epic shows.
Dates in Manchester caused trouble with police, as over 100 women were arrested during the course of one show. Branded worse than football fans, Take That asked their fans to cool things down during a visit to Scotland.
Returning to number one, Take That pushed ahead of both Adele and Lady Gaga. Adele’s record breaking second album ’21’ remains at number two, having never been outside the top two positions since its release.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga remains at number three with her album ‘Born This Way’. Other new entries in the Top Ten include legendary songwriter Paul Simon, whose new record ‘So Beautiful Or So What’ sits at number six.
Further down the chart, Seasick Steve’s new album is lingering at number nine while Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Best Of’ has motored into the Top Ten.
On a slightly more credible note Foo Fighters have moved back up two places, with ‘Wasting Light’ sitting at number twelve. Meanwhile Aloe Blacc is enjoying renewed success thanks to his slow burning single ‘I Need A Dollar’ – parent album ‘Good Things’ remains in the Top 20 at number eighteen.
