Arctic Monkeys For Guitar Hero 5

According to reports in the British music press the forthcoming edition of Guitar Hero will feature the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana and Bob Dylan.

Now into its fifth instalment, Guitar Hero has become a massive favourite with music fans. With its chunky controller and range of techniques, the game has become the ultimate post-pub favourite as drunken friends battle to outdo each other with Van Halen impressions.

Developed by Activision, the game has spawned a range of imitators. Developing a life of its own some bars have decided to give in, organising Guitar Hero parties.

The games company are also reportedly due to begin working on a DJ Hero spin off game. Last year the Dutch turntable titan Tiesto leaked the news that he had been approached to work on the game, which could be released later this year.

British music magazine NME is reporting a list of candidates for the Guitar Hero 5 game. Containing a number of extra features, the game is set to use music by some of the biggest names around.

Indie giants Arctic Monkeys are set to release their new album later this year, with the Sheffield band also set to appear on ‘Guitar Hero 5’. Joining Alex Turner & Co. on the new instalment of the game are Gorillaz, The White Stripes and globe trotting British giants Coldplay.

The forthcoming game will also showcase older acts. Make up clad rock giants Kiss are due to appear on Guitar Hero 5, also it is not known if the game will come complete with a mask designed in the group’s distinctive style.

David Bowie, Johnny Cash and Motley Crue are amongst the older acts featured, with the likes of Dire Straights also due to appear.

Maverick talents such as Beck will be featured, with New Zealand group Wolfmother set to be cheered by their entry. The trio were reduced to one when a number of the band walked out last year.

However Wolfmother’s lead singer persisted, and after recruiting two new members recently returned to the stage. A new Wolfmother album is due to be released later this year, the follow up to the band’s classic rock worshipping debut album.

In a further Americana kick, both Bands Of Horses and My Morning Jacket are due to feature on the game.

Activision are set to release ‘Guitar Hero 5’ later this year.
