Sheffield indie giants Arctic Monkeys have unveiled the artwork to their forthcoming album ‘Humbug’.
It’s now almost close enough to touch. Arctic Monkeys have not released any new material since 2007’s phenomenally successful ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’, but the group are gearing up for their highly anticipated new album.
Since the release of their second LP the band have embarked on a number of solo projects. Alex Turner formed The Last Shadow Puppets with Miles Kane, scooping a Mercury nomination for their album ‘Age Of The Understatement’.
Drummer Matt Helders, meanwhile, became a DJ. The turntable maestro rocked the house at a Clash party in Barcelona, before going on to release his own special mix in the ‘All Back To Mine’ series.
Arctic Monkeys began recording new material last year. Moving to Los Angeles the group hooked up with Queens Of The Stone Age mainman Josh Homme, who no doubt added some muscle with those Desert Sessions.
Handing the tapes over to long time friend and producer James Ford, ‘Humbug’ is one of the year’s most anticipated releases. ClashMusic was recently allowed a brief listen of ‘Humbug’ – to read our view click HERE!

The band are set for a busy summer. Arctic Monkeys are scheduled to headline the Reading and Leeds festivals, unveiling new material before countless thousands of fans.
In addition to this, the Sheffield group have just announced four new shows in the United States. The band have already confirmed appearances at festivals such as All Points West, with Arctic Monkeys just announcing a performance at the iconic Lollapalooza event.
With a host of European dates also planned, it seems as though the long wait for new material from Arctic Monkeys is almost over.
Arctic Monkeys release ‘Humbug’ on August 24th.
