Arcade Fire, Strokes Basketball Tournament

POP vs Jocks returns...

Members of Arcade Fire, The Strokes and more are set to cross swords on the basketball court.

The split between indie rock and the sports world can be most dramatically felt in North America. Sure, in this country we’ve got Joey Barton to straddle the divide but spare a thought for our Stateside cousins…

Returning this year, POP vs Jocks finds some well known musicians hitting the basketball court. Last year saw Arcade Fire’s Win Butler taking part in the charity event, and the Canadian musician is set to return for the latest instalment. (via SPIN)

This time round, Win Butler will be joined by The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture, actor Martin Starr of ‘Freaks and Geeks’ fame and more.

Predictably, the half time entertainment is also a big draw in its own right. Fans will be entertained by Arcade Fire musician Régine Chassagne, alongside David Byrne and arch-turntablist Kid Koala.

The action is set to kick off on September 22nd at McGill University in Montreal. Here are some highlights from last year’s event.
