Canadian group Arcade Fire have posted a special preview of their forthcoming single.

Arcade Fire are one of the most acclaimed acts of the past decade, yet remain ultimately mysterious. Shying away from public attention, rumours of the group’s work rate are a typical conversation amongst fans.

Recently confirming details of their comeback single, Arcade Fire have now followed this with special audio previews.

The band have posted two clips on their website, allowing fans to hear small sections of ‘Suburbs’ and ‘Month Of May’. Taken from their forthcoming album, Arcade Fire will release the tracks as a split 12 inch.

The results are fascinating. ‘Suburbs’ is a piano led pop song while ‘Month of May’ is a hefty rocker. Showing two different sides to the band, it seems that Arcade Fire could be set to come back with all guns blazing.

Rumours surrounding their new album suggest that it could be a lengthy affair. In postings to fans Arcade Fire have spoken about a surplus of material, while Australian radio station Triple J claims that up to 38 songs have been recorded and mixed.

Raising the possibility of a double album, the release should come at some point over the summer coinciding with a series of festival appearances.

In addition to this, Arcade Fire have crafted a new logo which appears to resemble the symbol for the American Radio Relay League. Fans have speculated that the packaging could be linked to the amateur radio network.

Arcade Fire are set to release their new album this summer.
