Canadian group Arcade Fire have told fans to expect an announcement about a new single over the next few weeks.
When those ‘End Of Decade’ lists were released at the close of 2009, one group stood out. Arcade Fire’s dominance of indie rock was reflected in critical appraisals, with their albums voted some of the finest of the Noughties.
The new decade could well bring some new material by the band. Arcade Fire have been locked away in the studio for the past year, working on a follow up to 2005’s acclaimed album ‘Neon Bible’.
With their vast swathes of orchestration becoming an indie rock hallmark, Arcade Fire have it all to prove. The material is rumoured to be due for an Autumn release, with a new message from the band preparing fans for an announcement about a single.
Publishing a postcard on their official website, Arcade Fire revealed that a new single should be released soon.
“Howdy y’all” the message opens. “Just finishing up pressing our new 12 inch. Should be in stores in the next couple weeks, God willing”.
“Good luck with finals. See you this summer!”
Arcade Fire have confirmed a handful of European dates for this summer. The Canadian group are set to return to Irish soil for a date at Oxegen, while the band are set to play a host of other festival dates.
Meanwhile, a listing on Amazon has appeared which claims Arcade Fire will release ‘Suburbs / Month of May’ on June 1st. However this has been strenuously denied by the band’s representatives.
