Arcade Fire In Haiti Christmas Pledge

They will match your donation...

Arcade Fire have pledged to match any donation fans make to Haitian charity Kanpe in the run up to Christmas.

Whenever rock stars become involved in charitable causes, a section of the public immediately begin to yawn. Yet to give Arcade Fire their full due, the Canadian band have stuck to their pledge of assisting Haiti whenever possible.

Striking up a partnership with the charity Kanpe, Arcade Fire have launched a new festive initiative. In a posting on their official website, the Canadian band have promised to match the donations made by fans in the run up to Christmas.

With an upper limit of $300,000 the Advent scheme could really make a difference on an island still struggling to re-emerge after a disastrous earthquake.

Hi Guys,

This is Win from Arcade Fire. If you are having a hard time deciding what to get your friends and family for gifts this year, give them our money! For any donation you make to Kanpe this holiday season, the band will match it. We will also send a nifty little post card, signed by Regine and I, to put under the tree, or wherever you put your gifts (it’s not our business). For any silicone valley jerks who might try to bankrupt us, lets put the upper limit at 300,000$…

Have a great Holidays

Luv, Win

Some notes on Kanpe: “KANPE was born of a desire to play an integral part in the fight to help Haiti break free from a vicious cycle of poverty.”

“By focusing on the development of communities and families, KANPE addresses the diverse needs of the Haitian people holistically: health, nutrition, education, and financial independence.”
