Apples In Stereo frontman Robert Schneider has posted a video featuring his new invention – a mind synth!
The Apples In Stereo have always been open to new ideas. The band blend a love of classic 60s pop with an interest in off the wall plans, which have taken the New York group in unusual directions.
Adapting to new technoloy, the band have now unveiled a bizarre new instrument. Lead singer Robert Schneider has filmed himself using a new synth, which apparently works via mind control.
Yes, you read that right: mind control. No need for pesky keys, Robert Schneider just hard wires his brain to a synth. Real name the Teletron, the instrument apparently uses the latest technology.
“Experimental composers like Alvin Lucier and Pierre Henry used EEG sensors to make brain-controlled music as early as the 1950’s” says the singer.
“What is cool about the Teletron is that you can go out and buy this toy and make this simple mod, and mentally control your own synthesizer at home.”
Continuing, Robert Schneider explained that the instrument is controlled by the intensity of brain waves. “The higher the intensity of my thoughts, the more brain activity I have going on, the higher the pitch. The less brain activity, the lower.”
This isn’t the first time the frontman has embarked on a crazy scheme. Robert Schneider once invented an entirely new musical scale, which he then used to write material for Apples In Stereo.
However the Teletron trumps that achievement. Watch it in action below…
