Antony Szmierek has dropped his brand new ‘Seasoning EP’ via underplay/Lab.
Currently in the midst of a sold-out headline tour, it’s been a phenomenal year for the Manchester-based artist. Measuring a balance between spoken-word, indie and rap with a garage twist, Szmierek flits between moments of self-reflection and the dance floor.
‘Seasoning EP’ extends this sentiment further, an emotionally charged project that arrives alongside visuals for the nostalgic ‘Dance Better’. Starting off his journey as a writer, during which he published two novels, the riser started to venture into music during the pandemic. Creating an intimate space through his words remains at the core of his work, evolving through different sounds and influences.
Detailing the creative process behind his latest release, Szmierek explains:
“Seasoning is about running out of time, moving through the seasons and trying to find those special ingredients that make the everyday feel worthwhile. Sometimes celebratory and sometimes introspective, it’s about holding onto the moment before the moment explodes…”
Crowned as one of BBC 6 Music’s Artists Of The Year, Antony Szmierek is rounding off 2023 in hgih spirits, ready to seize the months ahead.
Tune in now.
