Antony and the Johnsons, in particular leader Antony Hegarty, have produced strange and beguiling music that exists between genders, transgressing the boundaries between masculine and feminine. Now Hegarty has announced that he is to enter the fashion world, bringing his unique aesthetic to a collaboration with Italian online boutique yoox.com.
Hegarty has designed a one-off dress, essentially echoing the design of a kimono, which has been hand-made from white silk jersey and signed by the singer. Following Hegarty’s wishes all proceeds from the sale of the dress will be donated to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, who fight for the rights of individuals to determine their own gender identity.
The dress will be available for auction through eBay from February 14th.
