Hotly tipped newcomers The Answering Machine have delayed their much anticipated debut album.
The band have come a long way since debut single ‘Oklahoma’ in 2006. Now with new drummer Ben Perry the band are preparing to release their debut album ‘Another City, Another Sorry’ on May 25th.
The Answering Machine were signed to EMI, before parting ways with the label. In a new interview frontman Martin Colclough is philosophical about the change in circumstances.
“I don’t think we were happy with what we had to begin with. It was going down the wrong route in a way. It was all quite negative on the major label side of things because we came in at a time when EMI had all their troubles” he said.
“There was so much pressure on us early on. I think people know that bands need development time and to work themselves out. We’re taking it back to the core of indie and re-establishing what it’s like to be in an indie band” he claimed.
“We have a say in every single aspect of the band”.
