ANOHNI Shares Extraordinary Cover Of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’

Check it out now...

ANOHNI has shared a beautifully intense take on disco classic 'I Will Survive'.

The Gloria Gaynor single was seemingly a staple of her early shows, with the British born artist returning to the song for a moving rendition.

Out now, it's a slo-mo take that shivers with emotion, while still retaining the disco roots of the original.

ANOHNI shared a statement alongside the video, which explained that she had been approached by Facebook in June to license the cover for “an advertisement that represented Facebook as an advocate for small businesses.”

The offer amounted to some $200,000 but in the end ANOHNI turned it down – rejecting Facebook's role in 'fake news' and the empowerment of Trump.

“Although I really could have used the money, I said no because I didn't want to be complicit in Facebook’s hosting of fake news which might enable the re-election of Donald Trump,” she explained.

“They wrote back saying that they were placating other participants' concerns by making donations to their charities of choice, in addition to paying them. I woke up the next morning and realized this isn't even advertising; this is politics, and I don't even know how deep this water is. This company Droga5 worked with Obama and Google and others. I had to walk away.”

'I Will Survive' is accompanied by a music video that was filmed in the 1990s, featuring ANOHNI alongside the late transgender activist and artist Chloe Dzubilo.
