In some ways, everyone knows everyone in London.
Anjelo Disons is a case in point. The jazz-leaning polymath has worked with all manner of people, a founder member of creative collective The Oracle.
Working with everyone from Tom Misch to Dave, Kali Claire and Blue Lab Beats, his soulful sound has proved to be one of the city's most adaptable gestures.
New single 'Brighter Day' broadens his scope still further. His first release since 2019's 'Nothing To Lose', it acts as a precursor to his incoming debut EP 'The Garden'.
'Brighter Day' leans on those formative neo-soul influences while adding some UK grit, a true London sound in every sense.
Grime prince Yizzy is on hand for some guest bars, underlining his own versatility with a dextrous guest performance.
"'Brighter Day' is a song I’d been working on for a long time with several different versions made. It found its final form in a phenomenal session with Oracle member Lorenz Okello. We started the song from scratch knowing that we’d need a fire second verse. Eventually me and Yizzy’s path aligned with his studio being next to mine. I remember playing the track as he walked past; the rest is history."
"After Yizzy killed the verse I was ecstatic at the fact the song was finally finished! The song is about the yearning for happier times during the darker moments of life. If you keep moving, keep going you’ll always come to a 'Brighter Day' in life."
'Brighter Day' comes with a neat animated video, which taps into the colour and buoyancy of Anjelo Disons' own creative process.
