Animal Collective, Vashti Bunyan EP To Be Re-Issued

'Prospect Hummer' to gain vinyl pressing...

The turn of the Millennium seemed to witness a resurgence in acoustic music, with new artists such as Woods, Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsome breathing new form into the nexus usually defined as wyrd folk.

Perhaps the most satisfactory melding of old and new, though, came when Animal Collective and Vashti Bunyan agreed to hop into the studio together back in 2004.

Animal Collective were – at the time – operating as an acoustic duo, with Avey Tare and Panda Bear playing support to Four Tet on a UK wide tour.

Meeting Vashti Bunyan, the pair began wrapping delicate acoustic lines around Vashti's voice. Pieced together over three days, 'Prospect Hummer' was fleshed out utilising the efforts of Deakin, and – on the instrumental track 'Baleen Sample' – samples from the absent Geologist.

Due to gain its first ever vinyl pressing later this year, a re-issued version of 'Prospect Hummer' will be available on Record Store Day (April 18th) on Fat Cat.
