Animal Collective are set to release a 12 inch of unreleased material on Record Store Day.
Ah, Record Store Day. From humble origins the event has grown to become a global phenomenon. Sure, no one could ever possibly buy each and every release planned for the event, but in amongst the chaff there are some rich pickings.
Such as an Animal Collective 12 inch. Did that get your attention? GOOD.
Part of Domino’s release schedule for Record Store Day (which this year falls on April 21st), Animal Collective have gathered some unreleased material for the upcoming ‘Tranverse Temporal Gyrus’.
The material was crafted for a unique performance as part of an installation by Animal Collective and visual artist Danny Perez at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City in March 2010. Coming equipped with an exclusive 24 x 36 foldout poster, this should tide you over until AnCo finally complete that eagerly awaited ‘Merriweather…’ follow up.
The Animal Collective release is part of a series planned by Domino for Record Store Day. Sitting alongside the previously announced Smugglers Way flexi-zine, the label are planning exclusive material from Hot Chip, She & Him, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins, James Yorkston, John Cale and more.
