Animal Collective are set to return in September with new album ‘Centipede Hz’.
In one fell swoop, Animal Collective switched from cult appreciation to become one of their generation’s finest musical units. Released in 2009, ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ received rapturous, overwhelming critical praise and has influenced a whole slew of new groups and producers.
Well, now they’re back. Animal Collective have been in the studio for some time, with the band confirming over the weekend that sessions for their new album have been completed.
‘Centipede Hz’ will be released in September, with Animal Collective preparing a new video by way of introduction. Containing a number of words and phrases, Pitchfork speculates that these could represent the final tracklisting.
As ever with Animal Collective, who can really be sure?
