Andreya Triana has signalled her return, posting new track 'Song For A Friend' online.
Andreya Triana's voice is almost instantly recognisable. Working with producers such as Flying Lotus and Bonobo, debut album 'Lost Where I Belong' was a stunning piece of 21st century soul.
Last year the singer went back into the studio, thinking once again about the way in which she approaches music. Crafting a series of deeply personal tracks, previews have been emotional, engrossing affairs.
Now Andreya Triana is ready to show off the results of her labours. New track 'Song For A Friend' went online earlier, and it's a subtle piece of songwriting, with Triana's voice backed with a soft, spare arrangement.
According to the singer, 'Song For A Friend' "was written for a close friend of mine. She was going through a difficult period and I felt I wanted to express to her that she wasn't alone during this time... so I put it in a song! It was important to me that the lyrics were really heart felt and simple and of all the songs I've ever written this up there as one of my favourites! It somehow feels like it's been around forever."
Listen to it now.
Andreya Triana is set to play a one off show at London's Union Chapel venue on May 31st.
