Amy Winehouse Tops Accent Poll

Singer's Voice 'Most Hated'

A new poll to find Britain’s most loved and hated accent has named Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen as the voices we love to hate.

With regional accents disappearing into the vocal twilight, a new study has aimed to bring our accents to the fore. A new study conducted by travel firm Travelodge has revealed that Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen have some of our most hated voices.

The ‘Rehab’ singer has topped the poll, quickly followed by Essex boy David Beckham. Amongst the other voices given the thumbs down were Brummie Ozzy Osbourne and Welsh soprano Charlotte Church.

It was bad news for those in the South of England, however our Geordie readers will be pleasantly surprised to learn that their accent is quite popular.

Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole and comedy duo Ant and Dec were voted the UK’s most popular accents, with Clash writer (and radio broadcaster) Edith Bowman’s sultry tones also proving to be quite popular.
