Left-field alt-pop maverick ammar has shared his new EP ‘WHAT’S BEHIND BLUE SKIES?’ – tune in now.
The Connecticut-based artist and producer won acclaim last year, with his debut project ‘farewell, xx’ analysing a dark period in his life. Refusing to be hemmed in, ammar takes another forward step on this latest release.
Out now, ‘WHAT’S BEHIND BLUE SKIES?’ finds the alt-pop creator learning to look towards the light, accepting life and optimism back into his world. Songs about recovery, there’s a punk-like sense of defiance at play in his work.
“I encounter love, heartbreak, and family conflicts, just like anyone else,” he says “I’ve always experienced these things throughout my life but I wanted the sonics to reflect how lighthearted all these “issues” are to me now that I have grown into a mentally resilient individual”.
Opening statement ‘heaven?’ ignites the project, before moving in to the filmic ‘girl, interrupted’. Closing with ’empty suitcase’, the song cycle allows ammar space to process, and to set down roots.
“Life feels a lot different after three years of confusion and I knew given everything I experienced in between I was finally ready,” he says. “My aura is sharpened, I’m ready for anything that comes my way and I felt the need to still share my reality but in an enjoyable manner.”
Tune in now.
