Amethyst’s ‘Daydreaming’ EP Is A Soulful Joy

It's a potent new document...

UK vocalist Amethyst surges ahead on new EP ‘Daydreaming’.

The songwriter grew up around a musical family, and became infatuated with various strands of soul from a young age. A potent performer, she was mentored by CLASH favourite Joy Crookes, while Jamz Supernova is already a fan.

New EP ‘Daydreaming’ is fantastic – a joyous document of UK soul, the subtle low end points to greats like Marlena Shaw, while the crisp modernist is worth comparing to Jorja Smith.

At times there’s a gospel aspect to her performances, while ‘Daydreaming’ also makes use of Amethyst’s wonderful lyrical abilities. A dose of R&B world-building, the EP utilises a thought-provoking introduction by James Baldwin – on ‘What You Call It’ – while the raw ‘Say’ explores matters of the heart.

A hugely impressive return, you can explore ‘Daydreaming’ below.
