ARK/8 has many strings to its bow. The dynamic gaming, music, sci-fi and pop culture infused RTW brand entered 2024 in style, launching an all-new creative endeavour.
Picking up from the themes in their After Dark Collection – a blend of Japanese culture and rave wear – ARK/8 joined forces with their friends at Maison Mercury Jones, unleashing a new track spearheaded by excellent producer Cherif Hashizume.
The original track sat in a deep house lane, with aspects of the DJ’s own Japanese-Egyptian heritage, integrating the Insen scale, Japanese BIWA and Northwestern ADUNGU.
Out now, the track is intended to be the pivot for an ongoing evolution, with a select batch of club talents stepping in to remix it. The cycle opens with Amaliah’s take on the track, adding some darker aspects with those jungle-leaning breaks.
DJ, producer, and ARK/8 Maverick, Amaliah says: “What stood out to me with collaborating with ARK/8 is their mission to help and support emerging artists, especially in electronic music. I wanted a very distinct sound, which is like an Amaliah sound but also – edgy and cool because that’s what I think about when I see the clothes.”
Out now, we’re able to share the remix before anyone else, alongside the freshly crafted video. An audio-visual journey, it illustrates the fluidity of club culture, and the collaborative ethos that sits at the heart of ARK/8.
Aurelia Havet, Head of Strategy and Co-Founder at Maison Mercury Jones, says: “The collaboration between ARK/8 and Amaliah illustrates perfectly the aim of our music strategy to support emerging electronic artists across the world. She’s a rising star on the London scene and we’re proud to have provided her with the opportunity to create her first ever remix, reenforcing ARK/8’s mission as curator of great beats and Maison Mercury Jones as the agency to watch for music and brands collabs.”
Finally Maison Mercury Jones’ Creative Director, Ilā Kamalagharan, comments: “Amaliah’s remix brings a completely new vibe to the ARK/8 track. It has this authentic, hypnotic, UK dancefloor energy – I love how she has interpreted ARK/8’s collection with such a fresh perspective – it brings a whole new movement to the clothes.”
