Alice Boman seems to live in dreams.
It's there in the name of her debut album, of course – the incoming 'Dream On' – and it's also in her music, these drifting, somnambulant pieces of glacial, almost opaque, indie pop.
'Dream On' will be released on January 17th, with the Swedish artist also set to complete an array of British live shows.
Ahead of all this, though, she's able to share new song 'The More I Cry' and there's a touch of David Lynch in its eerie evocation of loss.
Recorded with vintage kit, the track seemingly fell into place in only a few days, and it's a hypnotic affair, one that approaches absolute stillness of the heart.
She explains…
"This is the last song that I wrote for the album and to me it’s a special one. It felt like an important song to get out of me and on to the record and I wrote it in a few days. I played it for Patrik [Berger, producer] one day in the studio and we got inspired and started to play around on his old synths and recorded the whole core of the song that same day."
"We listened to that beautiful Elvis recording of Blue Moon and Patrik has this old 50’s mic that I fell in love with, that I actually think is meant for drums, that we recorded the vocals on."
