London composer Alfa Mist will release new album ‘Variables’ on April 21st.
The incoming LP is his second for Anti- and lands on April 21st. In a note, Alfa Mist says his intention was to look at the position he now occupies, and search for the direction he could take next.
“I’ve been focused on who I am in my music, but now I’m exploring where I am,” Alfa Mist says. “I’m asking: how did I get here?”
To launch the project Alfa Mist has shared two potent new pieces, each demonstrating a different aspect of the album as a whole. So, ‘4th Feb (Stay Awake)’ deals with introspection, a carefully honed track that leans towards darkness. The ecstatic ‘BC’ pushes towards his jazz roots, with the seven-minute improvisatory piece grappling with freedom.
Tune in now.
