American artist Alexia Avina has shared her glorious new single 'Fit Into'.
Previously based in Montreal, Alexia is now rooted in rural Massachusetts, and her music dwells in the nexus between ambient tapestries, folk songwriting, and the more opaque end of dream pop.
Debut album 'Betting On An Island' was acclaimed on its 2018 release, while follow up project 'All That I Can't See' landed last year.
New single 'Fit Into' finds the American artist continuing her travels, released on Lost Map Records – run from a caravan on a remote Scottish island.
It's a gorgeous return, so redolent of Alexia Avina's singular aesthetic, and so open to interpretation.
“‘Fit Into’ is about the wish to shapeshift oneself into the mould of another person’s desires,” she comments. “At the time of writing, I knew that this was an unworthy aspiration to hold myself to, but I wanted to write a song that tapped into that space of inner longing to be someone else, rather than from an angle of self-judgement.”
A soothing yet challenging listen, 'Fit Into' comes equipped with some curious visuals directed by Dan Criblez.
Tune in now.
Alexia Avina will release her new album 'Unearth' on October 9th.
