Alex Smoke Taken To Hospital

With collapsed lung

Alex Smoke has been taken to hospital in Australia after suffering a collapsed lung.

Emerging from Glasgow, Alex Smoke has produced some of the year’s most forward thinking electronic music. Indebted to the dancefloor, his explorations rapidly expand the possibilities of club music.

Following a series of acclaimed 12 inches, Alex Smoke dropped his debut album earlier this year. Touring across the world, the Scottish producer was taken into hospital recently after a show in Australia.

The producer was performing a show in Melbourne, reports Resident Advisor, when he began to notice chest pains. Increasing in severity, Alex Smoke was suffering pain every time the bass kicked in.

Performing in obvious discomfort, Alex Smoke completed his set before telling staff that he needed treatment. An ambulance was called, rushing the Scottish producer to the treatment room.

Diagnosed with a collapsed lung, Alex Smoke is set to undergo surgery later today (November 23rd) to rectify the problem.

A collapsed lung may sound serious but in most cases is treated easily and should remain non-life threatening. A member of the ClashMusic team one fell ill with a collapsed lung, but made a swift, full recovery.

A collapsed lung most often occurs in tale, thin males while pre-existing conditions such as asthma can play a part.

Expected to remain in hospital for about a week, the producer has been forced to postpone the remainder of his Australian tour. Amongst the shows cancelled is HAHA Industries’ party in Sydney, the Strawberry Fields Festival and more.

Get well soon Alex!
