Albarn, Jarvis For Walker Tribute

Singers For Orchestral Performance

A forthcoming orchestral extravaganza celebrating the music of the legendary Scott Walker will be graced by the presence of two star performers – Damon Albarn and Jarvis Cocker.

The Britpop legends will unite for a very special performance in London’s historic Barbican venue. The project, titled ‘Drifting and Tilting: The Songs of Scott Walker’, has been conceived by Walker himself and will feature vast orchestral versions of his classic songwriting.

Scott Walker rose to fame in the pop group The Walker Brothers before taking a hop, skip and jump into the left-field. The new orchestral project will be based on his cult albums ‘Tilt’ and ‘The Drift’.

Inspired by existential philosophy and modern European philosophy, the albums are renowned as some of the finest material Walker has written.

The new project will see the songs transformed into vast orchestral epics, under Walker’s own supervision. Amongst the singers stepping into his shoes are Jarvis Cocker, Damon Albarn, Dot Allison and Gavin Friday.

The ‘Drifting and Tilting: The Songs of Scott Walker’ concert takes place in The Barbican, London between November 13th – 15th.
