Air Waves Links With Cass McCombs On ‘Alien’

"A love song, about feeling safe with someone..."

Air Waves has shared their new song ‘Alien’.

The American songwriter – real name Nicole Schneitt – really cast a spell on their 2018 LP ‘Warrior’, a mature work, rich in emotion and revelatory personal detail. Taking time to craft a follow up, Air Waves’ incoming album ‘The Dance’ is set to be very special indeed.

Out on September 9th via Fire Recordings, the album was recorded at Figure 8 studios in Brooklyn, and found the songwriter stretching their wings a little. Arrangements are broader, risks are taken, and the results – to be truthful – speaks for themselves.

Recent tracks ‘The Dance’ and ‘Wait’ made for an imposing introduction, with Air Waves now sharing brand new song ‘Alien’.

A beautiful and highly evocative piece of songwriting, it finds Air Waves reaching towards a space of comfort. A sign of their burgeoning reputation, Cass McCombs delivers backing vocals, and the esteemed songwriter helps to build on the track’s subtleties.

A song of light and shade, ‘Alien’ moves between a palatial atmosphere, and something tainted by darkness.

Air Waves comments…

“‘Alien’ is a love song, about feeling safe with someone. The kids I work with say ‘go off king’ so thought to use that sentiment. I was ecstatic Cass wanted to sing on this one, as I’m a big fan of his songwriting and his voice works so well with the darkness of the tune.”

Tune in now.
