Coming out as transgender two years ago, Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace has become a passionate advocate for gender freedom.
So Arcade Fire's video for 'We Exist' naturally piqued her interest. 'The Amazing Spiderman' actor Andrew Garfield plays the central character, dressing in women's clothes and getting beaten up in a bar.
Emerging onstage with Arcade Fire at the video's finale, the clip was evidently meant to be a voice of support for the transgender community.
However not all have been impressed. Laura Jane Grace wrote:
Dear @arcadefire , maybe when making a video for a song called "We Exist" you should get an actual "Trans" actor instead of Spider-Man?

She also tweeted a link to an article critiquing the video – check it out HERE.
