Adele Pushed Back To Number One

Following BRIT Awards success

Adele has pushed her way back to number one with the BRIT Award winning album ’21’.

It’s been an incredible start to the year for Adele. Laid low by throat problems, the singer appeared to end 2011 in low spirits. However in the space of just a few weeks Adele has notched up a record breaking Grammy haul and a couple of BRITs.

Making her return to live performance, Adele thrust herself back in the spotlight. As a result, her record breaking album ’21’ has enjoyed re-ignited sales, pushing the singer back to number one on the UK charts.

The Official Chart Company places the singer at number one, with ’21’ receiving a 37% increase in sales following the BRITs.

Breaking the six million sales mark, ’21’ has now enjoyed 21 non-consecutive weeks at the top spot.

Elsewhere in the Top Ten, the influence of the BRITs can be felt in the presence of Florence & The Machine and Coldplay. Both artists were featured prominently at the ceremony, causing a massive sales boost.

Florence & The Machine’s album ‘Ceremonials’ saw a sales increase of 72%, while Coldplay’s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ moved up a total of five places.

Further down the charts, Band of Skulls new album was the highest new entry. Hitting number fourteen, the Southampton trio are on currently on tour after confirming a number of nationwide dates.
