Adele Announces Second Album

'21' due in January

Adele is set to return with the release of her much anticipated new album ’21’ on January 24th.

Blessed with an incredible voice, Adele somehow failed to really break the UK with her debut album ’19’. Overshadowed by Duffy, singles such as ‘Chasing Pavements’ missed out on mainstream attention.

Not so in the United States. Adele has completely eclipsed her blonde haired rival, with ’19’ becoming a sleeper hit. Selling out the Hollywood Bowl, the singer was even able to recruit long time idol Etta James as a support act.

Returning to the studio, Adele has now confirmed the release of her second album. Following in the tradition of ’19’, new album ’21’ matches her age at the time of recording.

Due for release on January 24th, the single will be preceded by new single ‘Rolling In The Deep’. Working with Paul Epworth, the track is apparently a “dark bluesy gospel disco tune” according to Adele herself.

The singer revealed news of new material on her blog. “I’m very excited, nervous, eager, anxious but chuffed to announce my new album! It’s taken a while and it knocked me for six when writing it.”

Continuing, Adele explained: “It’s different from “19”, it’s about the same things but in a different light. I deal with things differently now. I’m more patient, more honest, more forgiving and more aware of my own flaws, habits and principles. Something that comes with age I think.”

“So fittingly this record is called ’21’. The whole reason I called my first album ’19’ was about cataloging what happened to me then and who I was then, like a photo album you see the progression and changes in a person throughout the years”.

Recorded in Malibu, legendary producer Rick Rubin took charge of sessions which included an input from Paul Epworth.
