Adam Torres is one of those rare talents who manages to produce a classic first time out.
The Austin-based songwriter released debut album 'Nostra Nova' back in 2006, and it reached a dedicated cult audience.
But then word spread. After a few years, Misra Records stepped in for a full re-issue, exposing Torres' wonderful, ethereal songwriting to a far bigger audience.
In the meantime, the songwriter had largely stepped outside music. Studying at college, he worked on a water project in Rio Grande, all the while stockpiling new material.
Heading into the studio with over 100 songs, Adam Torres laid down his material direct to tape over eight days in January at Austin’s Cacophony Recorders.
The results are truly magical. New album 'Pearls To Swine' will be released through Fat Possum on September 9th, with Clash able to premiere new cut 'Morning Rain'.
Gorgeous, romantic songwriting with a gilded edge, Adam Torres' high, keening vocal is set against a simple yet beautifully affecting arrangement.
Gently poetic, it's exactly what we need to hear this morning…
