Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek is set to release another solo EP using his alias Roses Kings Castles.
The long time drummer stepped out from behind the cymbals to release a solo album late last year. Titled ‘Roses Kings Castles’ the album was an unexpected delight, a pastoral, thoroughly English slice of songwriting.
Ficek supported the release with a number of low key gigs with close friend Pete Doherty. Babyshambles are currently taking a break with each member working on side projects.
Doherty himself has been working on solo material which is due to be released as the album ‘Grace / Wastelands’, and Ficek has supported him by playing drums in his live band.
The forthcoming EP will be titled ‘Apples And Engines’ and will be available to pre-order from March 30th. Unusually, the material will be released on cassette format first, with a full release to follow on 2009.
Ficek told the NME that “in the meantime we’re having a ball on Peter’s solo tour, playing alongside Stephen Street and Graham Coxon! It doesn’t get much better.”
