R&B aesthete ABRA returns with new song ‘FKA MESS’.
A cross-genre disciplinarian, ABRA’s future-facing stance is commonly aligned with R&B, a genre she has indelibly left a mark on. Since her ‘BLQ VELVET’ project in 2015 she’s profoundly expanded her voice, embarking on a myriad of endeavours.
Recently taking a lead role in Euphoria creator Sam Levinson’s first feature film Assassination Nation, ABRA returns to the mic on new song ‘FKA MESS’.
Her first full release since ‘Unlock It’ back in the summer of 2021, the production taps into early 80s electro, all square-wave sounds and rugged bass lines. She wraps those stunning vocals around this rhythmic engine, her stellar, always on-point approach communicating her meaning in emphatic style.
A sign of her new era, ‘FKA MESS’ feels like ABRA has begun the process of wiping the slate clean.
Tune in now.
