A Tribe Called Quest rapper Phife Dawg has died, reports from the United States suggest.
The rapper was born Malik Isaac Taylor in 1970, and he helped found the hip-hop group with high school friends Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad in 1985.
The group's impact is almost incalculable – continually moving forward yet with an open embrace, A Tribe Called Quest brought innovation to the masses during hip-hop's golden age.
Hits include 'Can I Kick It?', while albums such as 'People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm' remains touchstones for a new generation of rappers.
Working with producers such as a young J Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest's jazz-influenced beats have been cited by everyone from Flying Lotus to Paul White as an inspiration.
