PC Music associate SOPHIE has always had an overt pop flair. The producer has hooked up with Mad Decent, worked with Madonna and remixed everyone from Auntie Flo to Yelle.
This summer, though, SOPHIE has been blasting out one song: 'When I Rule The World'. A glorious, flouro-saturated pop hymn, the vocal comes from hitherto reclusive singer LIZ.
Pushed to the forefront, LIZ is a pop star in waiting, a supple voice and incredible attitude which seems to sear out of the track. Need to know more? Here's five little known facts about the singer.
1. She's been hailed as the first lady of Mad Decent after being signed by Diplo himself, and having her EP curated by the man himself.
2. Touring stints with Charli XCX and Mad Decent Block Party appearances in 2014 and 2015 also saw her build great experience in the live world. "A lot of people didn't quite know what to make of my set, but I can fuse pop and R&B in so many ways."
3. Her Pharrell Williams-produced track for the Amazing Spiderman 2 soundtrack in 2014, 'That's My Man', was oft-cited as the best cut on the album.
4. It was Diplo who cemented her pairing with PC Music stalwart Sophie, after LIZ caught his show at South By Southwest. SOPHIE produces 'When I Rule The World'.
5. She credits her Tarzana, California upbringing (a self-proclaimed valley girl, she currently resides in Los Angeles) as a key component of her DIY perspective. "I was a girl with dreams and ideas like anyone else."
