Clashmusic.com are currently celebrating Factory week across the site, so we must bring to your attention the June 21st, “24 Hour Conversation” event, “Reification – The Tony Wilson Experience” which is destined to mark AHW’s achievements by indulging in one of his favourite past-times, chatting about the arts.
Based at Urbis, Manchester, the recent home of the Hacienda Exhibition, a midday to midday event on midsummer’s day will see many of Tony’s friends, colleagues and compadres united in a day of creative events which look to reflect and advance the ethos of Factory Records, The Hacienda and AHW’s other cultural achievements.
Reflecting the clout which the Factory artistic brief still commands, a gallery of creatives, celebs, musicians and all round artists have already confirmed their participation in the event whose day round programme seems set one to be the cultural highlights of Manchester 2008.
With the likes of Peter Hook, Peter Saville, Steve Coogan, Ben Kelly, Alan McGhee, Mark Radcliffe, Liam Spencer, Stuart Maconie, Kevin Cummings, Matt Greenhalgh and Grant Gee just some of the participants so far announced (with more names rumoured and to come), the event is seeking to mark Tony’s life by encouraging young creatives to come and feed off the multitude of experience which will be all over Urbis on the 21st June.
Applications to attend the event can be made via the website at www.tonywilsonexperience.com and up to 200 talented young people over the age of 18 will be selected via this route to contribute to the event. Applications close on May 11th and attendees will be confirmed early in June. Open to all dynamic individuals with wide ranging interests in music, film, photography, writing and the like, Clash would encourage you to apply as early as possible since the event is likely to become over-subscribed.
