Brainfeeder is one of the most vital, inspiring labels on the planet.
Run by Flying Lotus, it features some of his collaborators, cohort and contributors with the roster often reading like a who's-who of avant hip hop. Even amongst his peers, though, Thundercat stands out.
An outstanding musician, Thundercat (real name Stephen Bruner) plays bass in Flying Lotus' live ensemble, with his fusion inspired playing interlocking perfectly with the Los Angeles producer's jazz-addled beats.
A capable producer in his own right, Thundercat may have just delivered his finest document thus far. With new album 'Apocalypse' lingering (find the Clash review HERE) the producer is the subject of new film Off Main Street which aims to provide intimate portraits of artists who exist outside of the mainstream.
Featuring exclusive interview footage, this is a fascinating insight into the West Coast maverick.
