Brought together to record a cover Graham Nash’s ‘Chicago’ for a charity project, the like-minded artists, with producer Youth, embarked on a remix of the track which then bacame a full length album of original music.
Divided into two twenty minute plus tracks, ‘Metallic Side’ and ‘Sphere Side’, each contains five movements showcasing Gilmour’s diverse guitar playing, Youth’s bass and keyboard skills and The Orb’s Dr Alex Paterson’s sonic wizardry.
Speaking about the project, The Orb’s Alex Paterson said, “It’s a collision that’s been waiting to happen with Pink Floyd / David Gilmour and The Orb orbiting many of the same planets.”

The ‘Metallic Sphere’ album is released by Columbia Records on October 11th and will be available as a regular and deluxe edition featuring a different mix utilizing the 3D60 ™ technology to create a 360 degree sound experience accessible on regular stereo equipment.
