The Draytones Live For Merc Instore

Debuting new material at Carnaby Street gig

Merc’s Carnaby Street store has been hosting in store gigs featuring bands for a few months now, giving the Friday teatime shoppers a little bit of entertainment as the weekend kicks off.

The latest to take to the shop floor were Anglo-Argentinian freakbeat ensemble The Draytones, previewing some new songs alongside tracks from their ‘Up In My Head’ album.

Despite being signed after just a few gigs the band has taken the slow and steady approach, honing their craft on numerous tours, recently playing a massive Mod festival in Spain.

Kicking off with ‘4 Years’, singing drummer Luke led the quartet through a tight, purposeful set of Summery beat music, working well in the stripped down, busking format imposed by the setting.

New songs, ‘You Are My Hope’ and ‘This Will Always Hurt’, were a welcome peek into their, soon to be released, second album and demonstrated just where hard work will get you.
