Words often fail you.
When with a loved one, when delivering bad news… when working out how to describe The Bastards Of Fate.
The Bastards Of Fate are a rock band (loosely) from America (the United States of). Their debut album (does anyone really believe in albums?) 'Who's A Fuzzy Buddy?' dropped last year, the sort of music which is so often pushed to one side by commercial hype.
By which we mean, of course, that it zipped and roared with a rare vibrancy, that it refused to be shunted into any one genre. Building a curious cult following, The Bastards Of Fate are now finally set to caress these shores.
Announcing a short burst of UK shows, The Bastards Of Fate are toasting their return with a new video. 'The Zero Hour' opens with grotesque electronic noises, as unsettling as they are confrontational, before unrolling into an actual, proper song.
Sounding like rock music as understood by alien visitors who have no familiarity with the genre, it's a bracing, intoxicating listen. As Clash writer Scott Creney put it: "The Bastards of Fate sound like they could care less. Play this over and over again and take it into your blood."
Watch it now.
