Australian band The Bamboos have been a well-kept secret of the deep funk fraternity for a while now, and may be set to launch themselves into the mainstream with their new single “King of The Rodeo”.
Featuring guest vocals from Megan Washington, the single turns the Kings Of Leon penned track into a stomping soul monster which has already found heavy airplay on UK radio. The band formed out of a loose collective of Australian musicians in 2001, and soon caught the ears of funk DJs across the globe with a series of limited edition singles.
New album “Side Stepper” is due to be released in October through long term home Tru Thoughts, and is capable of standing alongside funk greats without sounding like a museum piece. A fresh and diverting piece of dancefloor ready action, “King Of The Rodeo” is the perfect primer for the new album.
