Alas, a contemporary dance video to shake your numb wounded hearts. London three-piece, Strangers, have struck elusive with the video of debut single ‘Something New’ put out by brand new label, Just Off Pop.
Synthesized melodies layer over like a historical Depeche Mode song as vocalist David Maddox-Jones swoons and laments, as drummer Raife Hacking and synth player Piers Sherwood-Roberts control the dramatic instrumentation. After releasing three EPs last year, Strangers have perfected their dark melancholy waves and have since collaborated with Dimitri Tikovoi (Goldfrapp, Little Boots) on ‘Something New’.
From an interview with A Music Blog, Yea?, Maddox-Jones reveals their influences ranging from Depeche Mode to Justin Timberlake, to Suede, Nine Inch Nails and M83. But more than ever do we hear the largest dab of Hurts.
Strangers will play The Nest this Saturday, April 20th, as a part of ‘It’s All Indie’ Record Store Day party if you’d like to dig deeper.
Watch it now.
