SPINN’s ‘Shallow’ Is A Joyous Indie Banger

It's a summery piece of jangle-pop...

There's a real buzz around Liverpool newcomers SPINN.

The band's live shows have sped around the country, playing a flurry of summer shows that have bore witness to their blossoming potential.

Capable of heart-on-sleeve songwriting, SPINN are also able to conjure melt-in-your-mouth indie pop goodness at the drop of a hat.

New single 'Shallow' is a case in point. Gleeful jangle-pop with a killer chorus, it was written in almost the same length of time that it took to write, but stays lodged in your mind for days on end.

SPINN explains: "This song was written in whole in about 20 minutes – 10 minutes on music and 10 minutes on lyrics – and it’s not really about anything. We just wrote a proper poppy tune and called it shallow because that’s what it is. It’s the antithesis of 'It’s Not Getting Better' because there’s no underlying message or whatever, it’s the result of four lads writing an indie pop banger about nothing."

"I think there’s two sides to SPINN, there’s the veiled meaningful pop crooners, a la November, and It’s not getting better, and then there’s then there’s the outright sugar coated Mersey-Wave indie guitar pop side, 'Notice Me', 'Who You Are', and now 'Shallow' are on. We’re like a coin with adorably floppy hair."

Out now – check it out on Spotify – it comes equipped with a video that shows the band racing through the streets of Liverpool with flowers in their hands.
