SÔNGE Celebrates Afro-Femininity With ‘Magic Hairdo’

It's a stellar return from the Parisian artist...

Paris based riser SÔNGE has shared her powerful new single 'Magic Hairdo' – tune in now.

Ending the year on a high, SÔNGE has shared her spectacular, colourful, vibrant new single, with 'Magic Hairdo' becoming a salute to afro-femininity.

Stripped down alt-R&B with a neat guitar line and shades of Kaytranada in the production, the majority of the material was actually self-produced, before Myd came on board to add some stardust.

"How did the Big Bang happen? Are there aliens on other planets? How did you do your hair?" Sônge asks. "'Magic Hairdo' is about the secrets of the universe and things you can’t explain, like the hair beauty secrets of afro women. It’s an ode to curly, nappy, wavy, smooth hair. It celebrates the variety of women and their hair, whether natural or braided, but also colourful, pimped or extended."

Océane steers the video for the new single, with its grainy, DIY feel presenting a warm, intimate, ground-level view of the multi-cultural Parisian district Goutte d’Or.
