The compilation is a delicate art form.
Bringing together a series of releases might sound easy on paper, but enforcing a sense of cohesion remains a difficult task. Retrospective recently decided to piece together their first compilation and the first are, we have to admit, pretty impressive.
Placing the imprint firmly on the map, Retrospective are now looking ahead. The label have confirmed plans for a new four tracker, containing material from Glasgow based production team Slow It Down and London cohort Elijah Collins.
Clash have been given an exclusive preview. 'I Don't Need' is a heavy, throbbing piece of House music – there's plenty of electronic euphoria on show here, but check out those stabbing synths for subtle undertones of menace.
The video is sheer retro fare, with four girls enacting a dance routine straight out of Saturday morning television in the 80s. Retro-Futurism with a bizarre streak, it perfectly compliments the Slow It Down x Elijah Collins collaboration.
